DAY 3: Stuff got real today! I finally feel like this is a real game and I actually get to take part in it. The day got off to a good start with a quick meeting before heading to community outreach events around Oahu. We learned our bus assignments and headed to our destinations to help encourage healthy living and promote the Pro Bowl. I was sent to Pearl Harbor Joint Military Base to do a Play 60 event where we ran kids through a spread of drills and fun football-related stations. I was with representatives from the Panthers, Saints, Chargers, Colts, and Raiders. The early morning highlight was the bus ride to and from the event while listening to the stories other guys had from past Pro Bowls and their extensive and successful NFL careers.
After the community events, I was able to get a few minutes of sleep and recharge the batteries to the sound of crashing waves and an awesome contribution by the fast-spinning ceiling fan. After the nap, it was draft mode. We went down to the locker room, put on our draft shirts and hats, and made our way out the stage area for the ceremony. The draft was a great experience because of all the angles of exposure we had. There were photo booths, camera crews, Twitter stations, and a VIP room with a confessional style camera setup. It was a great production by the NFL Network and is something that adds to the overall success of the game.
#TeamRice got some amazing additions today that will help us come away with the win on Sunday! Notable additions were Jimmy Graham, LeSean McCoy, DeMarco Murray, Brandon Marshall and we ended up with a steal of Robert Mathis at the end to put the cherry on top. All the guys here have wonderful personalities and do great stuff for promoting the game with their everyday interactions. I am proud to be a representative of Rams Nation out here in Hawaii and I wish to come back often ;)
Random facts of the day:
-Luke Keuchley is only 22 years old and was almost a Stanford commit. Andrew Luck said “I really messed that one up” when asked about Luke’s official visit to Palo Alto.
-T-Sizzle is the photo bomb king.
-Eric Weddle has some great parenting techniques on nap time encouragement.
That is all for day 3 my beautiful people. Thank you so much for reading.
Mahalo and Aloha,
