Although the St. Louis Rams 5th annual Bell Ringing service day included a few additional celebrities this year, the objective of the event has stayed consistent- raise funds to help the Salvation Army do the most good in the St. Louis community. As in years past, St. Louis Rams staff, players, cheerleaders and Rampage flanked the doors of the Schnucks in Des Peres, asking customers to drop some change into the iconic red kettles of the Salvation Army Tree of Lights campaign.

Although neither Fox 2 nor the Rams are rookies to a bell ringing event, for the first time, the St. Louis Rams and Fox 2 consolidated their efforts to focus on one large bell ringing day, complete with Rams celebrities, Fox 2 reporters and even a few camels and donkeys. The partnership proved successful and thanks to a company match the Rams and Fox 2 were able to surpass pervious years by raising more than $17,000 for the Salvation Army.
The Rams and Fox 2 efforts were only a small drop in the kettle for what Salvation Army hopes to raise in 2013. “Our overall goal is $6.3 million. This is just a little picture of how we can do that with the help of the Rams,” said Captain Matt O’Neil. “It means a great deal, when a Rams player can come and share with the public and be that front person and say, ‘we are trying to help our community and we are trying to give hope to those people in need.’ It’s great because the Salvation Army can draw a lot more people and we meet the most good with that.”
